Day 4

01/06/2023 Laila Shaukat: Today we went to the women’s garden where we saw their crops and interviewed some of them. Jay, Farrah and others helped a lady who was ill by watering their crops. It was amazing to see how hardworking the women were. The market was very colourful with the herbs and spices along with other products being sold.
01/06/2023 Ben Wigley: Today we went through the women’s market to browse before continuing onto the women’s garden. There, we helped out by watering the crops and talking to the women. It was really hot but luckily we had most of the afternoon free.

01/06/2023 Isla Smith: The women’s garden was a place where community came together to grow food to sell to others in the community. We were greeted with a lovely song and were able to have a genuine conversation with one of the women working there. We helped one of the woman working in the gardens as her partner has passed and we helped water the plants which was nice.

01/06/2023 Inés Morrison: We went to the busy Gunjur market where they sold vegetables, spices, herbs, fish and clothing pieces. It was really nice to see the town in action despite the recent grievances! We then went to the women’s garden where the women were so so welcoming, playing songs and chanting for us. It was so lovely to help them out with their work and really amazing to see all of their efforts!
